Recently on 29th Mangsir, we student of grade seven went to hike from Kathmandu to Champpadevi. Altogether around 40 students and 4 teachers were there.
In the morning I took my breakfast, and got ready for the hike with the managed dress and sport shoes. Then I went school at 7:45 am and we gathered in school. Then we left school at 8:00 am. We danced, sang and enjoyed in the school bus. We reached Dakshinkali at around 9:00 am. Then we started walking upstairs. By walking around 1 hour, we were very tired. But we enjoyed a lot by seeing the views on the way. Then we again walked for about an hour, and we reached at the top of the hill. We had our about 50% of tiffin there, we also clicked some pictures for our JM Photography Contest. Then we started getting downstairs. And again we started to walk about 2 hours. The way was very slippery.
Murari sir said us about many plants and wild animals, he also said us to walk carefully in the slippery way. Then we had our left 50% of tiffin in the open area. Then the bus reached there to pick us. We all were very tired, all of them slept on the bus.
Though it was a hike full of tiredness, I enjoyed a lot. Seeing those beutiful mountains of Nepal was amazing experience for me.

Tihar is celebrated at the end of autumn season in the mont of Kartik. It is harvesting season, so we do not have to feel difficulties to observe this festival.

We celebrate tihar for five days. On the first day of tihar we worship crow, so it is known as crow festival. We left the food in on place and crows eat the food and go anytime.
The second day is called dog festival. Dogs are worshiped by offering them garland putting tika.
Like wise, the third day is known as Laxmi puja. One this day, laxmi is regarded as the Goddess of fortune and wealth. At night people worship an image orpicture of Laxmi. Houses are kept clean and well decorated. To please the Goddess Laxmi, lights are kept burning all night. On this day we even worship cow.

The fifth and  day of chief festival is called Bhai Tika. On this day, sister worship or honour their brothers. They offer tika, garlands and sweets.
In return, of their sister's honour brothers give them presentbof different things.

Teej

Teej is a festival celebrated by Nepali women, for the long life of her husband and long and firm relationship between them until the death this life and all the lives to come. The folk music and dances add more flavor to traditional values of Teej. It is fascinating to see women, in “Red” dancing and singing on the street, going to temple in holy and fasting mood. Teej is also called Hari Talika Teej. This festival is celebrated by Nepali Hindu women all across the world.

The first day of Teej is called Dar Khane Din. On this day the women assemble at one place in their finest attire and start dancing and singing devotional songs. Amidst all this, the grand feast takes place. What is unusual about this day is that the feast is hosted by men.

The second day is the fasting day. Some women live without food and drops of water while others take liquid and fruit. The fasting is observed by married and unmarried women. Married women abstain strictly from food and drinks with a believe that their devotion to the god will be blessed with longevity, peace and prosperity of their husband and family. Unmarried women observe the fast with a hope of being blessed with a good husband.

Edit

The third day of the festival is Rishi Panchami. After the completion of the previous day's puja, women pay homage to seven saints or sages, offer prayers to deities, and bathe with red mud found on the roots of the sacred datiwan bush, along with its leaves. This act of purification is the final ritual of Teej, after which women are considered absolved from all their sins. Recent years have witnessed an alteration in the rituals, especially concerning the severity, but its essence remains the same.

Raksha Bandhan

The bonding between a brother and a sister is simply unique and is beyond description in words. The relationship between siblings is extraordinary and is given importance in every part of the world. However, when it comes to Nepal, the relationship becomes all the more important as there is a festival called "Raksha Bandhan" dedicated for the sibling love.
This is a special Hindu festival which is celebrated in countries like Nepal to symbolize the love between a brother and a sister. The occasion of Raksha Bandhan is celebrated on the full moon day of the Hindu luni-solar calendar in the month of Shravana which typically falls in the August month.
The festival of Raksha Bandhan is observed as a symbol of duty between brothers and sisters. The occasion is meant to celebrate any type of brother-sister relationship between men and women who may not be biologically related.
On this day, a sister ties a rakhi around the wrist of her brother in order to pray for his prosperity, health and well-being. The brother in return offers a gifts and promises to protect his sister from any harm and under every circumstance. The festival is also celebrated between brother-sister belonging to distant family members, relatives or cousins.

The festival of Raksha Bandhan is known to have originated centuries before and there are several stories related to the celebration of this special festival. Some of the various accounts related to the Hindu mythology are described below:
  • Indra Dev and Sachi- According to the ancient legend of Bhavishya Purana, once there was a fierce battle between Gods and demons. Lord Indra- the principle deity of sky, rains and thunderbolts who was fighting the battle on the side of Gods was having a tough resistance from the powerful demon King, Bali. The war continued for a long time and did not came on a decisive end. Seeing this, Indra's wife Sachi went to the Lord Vishnu who gave her a holy bracelet made up of cotton thread. Sachi tied the holy thread around the wrist of her husband, Lord Indra who ultimately defeated the demons and recovered the Amaravati. The earlier account of the festival described these holy threads to be amulets which were used by women for prayers and were tied to their husband when they were leaving for a war. Unlike, the present times, those holy threads were not limited to brother-sister relationships.
